***NEW FALL 2008 LEAGUE OFFERING: 5 WEEK OUTDOOR SLO-PITCH LEAGUE***

It doesn't matter what sport you're playing, everyone is welcome to register for our events.

ABOUT THE SPORT

Be a part of one of our largest and most social sports. In Slo-Pitch, all pitches are ‘lobbed’ between 6 and 12 feet, making it easier for batters to make contact. The ESSC offers Recreational, and Recreational Plus divisions. All games are played on City of Edmonton fields, most have shale infields, large backstops and player benches. The batting team supplies umpires. All divisions, except for Recreational, have 10 players on the field, with a minimum of three females. The Recreational division uses the ‘3 pitch’ system, with each team pitching to their own batters with a maximum of 3 pitches per batter. This division has 9 players on the field, with a minimum of 3 females. After your game, enjoy ESSC specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around the city.

  WHO CAN PLAY?

Adults aged 18 and older can join the Slo-Pitch leagues. All Slo-Pitch divisions in the ESSC are co-ed and self-officiated. The levels offered include Recreational, and Recreational Plus. A description of each league's skill level is provided below. We welcome full teams, small groups (5 to 9 players but not a full team), friends (2-4 players) and individual registrations. Small groups, friends and individual registrations are combined with other similiar registrants to form a team that remains together for the duration of the season. Click here for more info.

Facility Information

The diamonds are rented from The City of Edmonton and are located throughout the City. We try to ensure that all diamonds used in ESSC Leagues have a shale infield and a grass outfield, with benches for teams; however, this cannot be guaranteed due to field availability.

Equipment Players provide their own bats and gloves. The ESSC provides each team with bases, balls and field markers. This equipment is picked up pre-season and an $80 equipment deposit (Rec Plus/Intermediate) or $40 (Rec) is supplied at that time from each team. Deposits are returned at the end of the season upon the return of CLEAN equipment (equipment not cleaned is subject to a $15 fine).
Schedules

Sunday games may start anytime after 12:00pm but typically no earlier then 4pm. Games typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours. Schedules will be posted to the website no later than 48 hours before the first game.

Note: The ESSC may have to schedule more than one game in an day if games have been cancelled due to weather or other unforseen circumstances where make-up games are necessary.

Team Captains
Team Captains are responsible for ensuring that the appropriate permit is brought to every game. The permit can be downloaded off of the website at season start. Team Captains are also responsible for reporting the scores for their games online.
Weather Policy The ESSC provides daily game updates that indicate whether or not games have been cancelled due to poor weather conditions. To view our entire weather policy, please click here.
Calling the Shots All players in ESSC Slo Pitch leagues are responsible for keeping score, calling their own fouls and managing the game.
