General Description
|
| ESSC
Slo-pitch is our largest and most social sport. Playing Slo-pitch
is a great way to interact with friends while improving your
skills, staying active and enjoying nice weather. After your
game, meet up with your teammates and other ESSC players to
enjoy exclusive specials at one of our many Sponsor Bars around
Edmonton!
Player Testimonial: “I have played Slo-pitch, Indoor Volleyball and Beach Volleyball with the SSC for over 8 years. I joined with the intent of finding an alternative to being in a gym and have found so much more. I have met so many amazing, like-minded individuals who share a passion for sports and with whom I have developed longstanding friendships.” – Kris, Monday Slo-Pitch |

DIVISION
DESCRIPTIONS
|
|
Division
|
Description |
| Recreational |
This
division is for teams or players that are new to the sport and
have little experience playing slo-pitch. Teams should expect
a FOR FUN only league. Teams in this division pitch to their
own players. |
| Recreational Plus |
This
division is for teams or players that have played slo-pitch
in the past or are familiar with the game. You will see some organized plays, better hitting and
better flow to the game. Teams in this division will pitch to
their opponents. |
| Intermediate |
This division is for teams or players that have more experience
then those in Rec Plus. You will see skilled, organized plays,
better hitting, catching and players who are overall more competent
in all aspects of the game. |
The above divisions are created based on skill level and not on competitive behaviour. All SSC players are expected to play with a ‘fun-first, winning second’ attitude. The SSC may move your team up or down a division based on seasonal results. |

Calling the Shots
|
All
Slo-pitch leagues are self-officiated. Players are expected
to be on time, call their own fouls, keep score and time and
abide by ESSC rules and polices. |
Additional Information
|
Players Meetings: The ESSC may or may not, depending on the season, host mandatory Player's Meetings and/or require that new Team Captains and individuals complete an online Player Questionnaire. This will be specified on the registration form.
|
Waiver: All players are expected to complete
a waiver prior to playing in any ESSC league or event. One waiver
per player, per season is sufficient. To complete the waiver,
Reporting Scores: One player from each team, typically the captain, is responsible for reporting the game scores to the ESSC no later than 5:00pm the day after each game. Instructions on where and how to report scores can be found on the Player Info page. |
Permits: Team Captains are responsible for
ensuring the appropriate field permit is brought to each game.
Permits can be downloaded from the website on the schedule index page. |
Weather Policy: The ESSC provides daily updates
regarding weather. To view the entire weather policy, click here. |
| Cancellation Policy: In order to receive a full refund, cancellations must be submitted 2 business days prior to the registration deadline applicable to that season. After this time, no player or team will be eligible for a full or partial refund or credit. |
Default Policy for Team Registrations:
You agree to supply a $50 default fee each time your team does not meet minimum player requirements at game time. If the default fee is not paid before the following week's game, you will be given an automatic loss for that game and for all games thereafter until the fee is paid. If your team defaults a second time, your status in the league will be under review. The ESSC does not profit from default fees; any team defaulted against is automatically refunded the applicable default fee onto the credit card which was used to register the team. |
